Police are stepping up patrols and sobriety checks over the holiday weekend in order to reduce people driving under the influence.
I guess the good news, if you can call it that, is people who do get DUI's often find their way into treatment and recovery (and are out $9-$10K).
The bad news is DUIs can cause accidents, injury and death.
We all know that drunk driving goes up over the holidays, sadly. Even a little alcohol causes impairment in judgement. REMEMBER to always have a DD (Designated Driver) ahead of time and failing that, there's always UBER.
Driving under the influence of alcohol or ANY drug can cause consequences that will last a lifetime.
Yes, it can happen to you.
