Happy New Year to my readers. Quite a year, last year, huh? Moving on into what we hope will be better.

I've had several folks come up positive for THC  (marijuana) this year and swearing that they were only using CBD oil. That being said, a cautionary statement is called for here, whether you use CBD with or without smoking marijuana.

CBD has gotten a lot of press about being helpful for aches and pains and insomnia, what have you. "It's natural."  Great. Most people use CBD and believe there is no THC in it. Is that true?

According to verywellhealth.com "a cannabis strain must contain less than .3 percent THC to be classified as hemp. ;This is the reason hemp can be legally sold as various products. Most CBD products are made from hemp, not marijuana."

The sad truth for people that use CBD oil and are subject to drug tests  is that  though the  Farm Bill legalized the commerce of hemp and CBD in 2018, CBD is still not regulated as a dietary supplement by the FDA. What does that mean? I your freedom or livelihood depends on having clean drug tests, STEER CLEAR, at least for now.

If I may digress, it reminds me a bit of the "near beer" or "non-alcoholic beer" dispute. According to the arbor.com, Arbor Behavioral Healthcare's site, the facts are as follows: "Non-alcoholic beer, also sometimes known as near beer is a misleading term. According to labeling regulations, non-alcoholic beer is not required to be alcohol-free and can contain some alcohol. Standard beer varies considerably in alcohol content. The average real beer contains around 5% alcohol per beer. Low-alcohol beer can contain between 0.5% and 1.2% alcohol, and non-alcoholic beer can actually contain up to 0.5 percent alcohol. There are very few, if any, non-alcoholic beers that are actually free of alcohol. In fact, some studies have shown that non-alcoholic beers may actually have more alcohol than what’s listed on the label. Even if it does claim to be .5% alcohol, there may actually be quite a bit more alcohol in the non-alcoholic beer. Most will contain a small amount, which means they’re not a good option for those who need to abstain from alcohol completely."

The truth is, alcohol free does not always mean alcohol free and ditto THC free. Let the consumer beware and you are correct: Its not cool.
